What drives crypto prices
Bitcoin and altcoin prices are set by supply and demand on global exchanges — Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, OKX, Bybit. Main movers:
- Institutional demand — flows from large funds (BlackRock, Fidelity via spot ETFs), corporations (MicroStrategy), and governments (El Salvador, Bhutan).
- Regulation — US SEC decisions, EU MiCA directives, country-level tax rules for crypto income.
- On-chain events — Bitcoin halvings (every 4 years), Ethereum hardforks, growth of Layer-2 networks (Solana, Polygon, Arbitrum).
- Macro — Fed rate, dollar inflation, gold price. Bitcoin is often called "digital gold" — though the correlation is unstable.
How to buy crypto in Ukraine
Three main ways to convert UAH into BTC, ETH or USDT:
- UAH-on-ramp exchange — WhiteBIT (Ukrainian, direct Privat/Mono card support), Kuna, EXMO. Card conversion fee 1–3%.

Crypto tax in Ukraine 2026
Since 2022, crypto income is taxed at 19.5%: 18% personal income tax + 1.5% military levy. Annual return is due by 1 May for the previous year. Exchanges don't withhold automatically — that's the user's responsibility. Tax applies to realised gains (on sale), not to unrealised gains while holding.
