Car import duty calculator

Import charges are made up of three payments: 10% duty on the customs value (0% if EU origin is confirmed by an EUR.1 certificate), excise, and 20% VAT charged on the value plus duty and excise. Excise depends on age: a 2-litre petrol car built in 2018 pays EUR 50 × 2 × 8 = EUR 800 in 2026. Since 1 January 2026, electric cars pay 20% VAT again. The euro rate is the NBU rate, updated daily.
