Kompanion Editorial Policy

Kompanion Editorial Policy

Last updated: July 24, 2026.

Kompanion is Ukraine’s independent finance portal. We cover banks, deposits, loans, insurance, crypto, and self-employed banking. Our audience makes money decisions based on what we publish, which is why the editorial policy is a baseline commitment — not a formality.

1. Who we are and who we’re accountable to

2. How we pick topics

Sources: real search queries (Google Search Console), reader questions, legislative changes, bank product updates, NBU data, expert outreach. Priority goes to topics where a user loses time or money because no one explains them clearly.

We do not write articles commissioned by banks with pre-decided conclusions. Sponsored content (when it appears) is clearly labeled Sponsored in title and intro.

3. How we prepare material

Every finance article goes through four stages:

  1. Research. The author collects data from primary sources: official bank sites, NBU publications, court registers, laws, regulator reports (AMCU, financial regulators). Each number is stamped with source URL and collection date.
  2. Writing. Articles follow “answer first, details after” structure: a short summary in the opening paragraph, detail below. For complex topics we add comparison tables, calculators, and worked examples.
  3. Editorial check. The chief editor verifies facts, dates, links, calculations, spelling, and adherence to standards. Any contradiction is resolved before publication.
  4. Expert review (for YMYL categories — taxes, loans, insurance, mortgages). An independent domain expert (accountant, lawyer, financial advisor) confirms the accuracy of claims. Their name appears in the “Reviewed by” block.

4. Source standard

Every financial fact carries a source link: Source: [institution]([URL]), as of [date].

5. Data freshness

Market data changes daily. Our standard:

Data type Max age Staleness marker
Currency rates 24 hours “Data as of [date]”
Deposit rates 7 days “Checked [date], may be stale”
Loan rates 14 days “Checked [date]”
Bank tariffs for self-employed 30 days “Current as of [date]”
Legislation On law change “Updated after law №… of …”

If an automated refresh didn’t run, the portal does not disguise it as “daily update.” We show the real last-checked date.

6. Commercial relationships and disclosure

7. Corrections policy

We make mistakes and correct them publicly:

  1. Minor edit (style, spelling): updated silently.
  2. Factual clarification (e.g., bank changed a rate): add Updated [date]: [what changed] block above the relevant paragraph.
  3. Material error (wrong number, obsolete rule, incorrect law interpretation): add Corrected [date]: [error and impact] block at the top. Old version preserved in the changelog.
  4. Disinformation (if we unintentionally published a false claim that could have influenced money decisions): publish a separate correction post in the news feed + a marker in the original article + a notification to newsletter subscribers.

Spotted a mistake? Email [email protected] — we respond within 48 hours.

8. AI in the newsroom

We openly use AI tools (Claude Sonnet 4.6, Anthropic) for structuring drafts, translating between languages, and gathering primary sources. Every article passes through editorial verification and fact-checking by the chief editor after the AI draft. The author remains a human who takes responsibility for the facts — not a language model.

AI policy:

9. What we don’t do

10. Complaints and feedback

We respond to all messages within 3 business days.
